Thanks for giving such a comprehensive answer to my rambling question about writing time!
I asked because at the moment, I get an hour on the train each day to write, so I cram as much into that as I can. Not 500 words per 15 minutes, though. Mate!
I wonder if there as anything that places as heavy a load on your cognitive abilities as writing fiction for a long stretch of time. I’m not surprised to hear you say it’s such a headfuck, and the thought of getting time like that someday scares me. It’s the pressure of making the writing better because of the extra time I could devote to it, I think — like, short bursts allow me to just go for it and say ‘that’s the best I can do’ afterwards. And there’d be all that time to ask myself, ‘who the hell would want to read this anyway?’
Anyway, I hope your continued efforts bear fruit. Thank you for continuing to write.
